Question about tumble drying

Would anyone know if high heat tumble drying could kill germs? I like tumble drying because it's softer but I'm wondering if my laundry is cleaner or disinfected if I use high heat. Any thoughts?

Yep, cranking up the heat in your dryer can really help get rid of germs, especially if it reaches 140°F (60°C) or more for over 30 mins. It won't disinfect completley like bleach or hot water, but it's a good start

Does your dryer show the temp settings or have a sanitize cycle? Are you looking to sanitize everything or just specific things like towels or gym clothes?

Yes it does, typically if the temperature reaches around 135degrees F or higher and is sustained for at least 30 minutes. It's not as good as washing with hot water or using a sanitize cycle, but it does add an extra layer of disinfection

Yeeeessss high heat can definitely help knock out some germs. Bonus if your dryer runs hot enough for long enough. While it is not a disinfectant per se, but it does more than just fluff things up.

I've been wondering the same thing so thanks for the responses here, that somehow confirmed what I have in mind. I guess it depends on the dryer and the fabric too.
